Brattle Principals Judy Chang and Jurgen Weiss will speak at the Energy Bar Association (EBA) Annual Meeting & Conference, to be held May 6-7 in Washington, DC.

The event will gather energy attorneys and numerous other industry stakeholders to discuss issues related to several areas of energy law, including antitrust, international energy transactions, and legislation and regulatory reform.

Ms. Chang will speak on the panel “Electric Transmission Investment and Order 890.” The panel will discuss the implementation of recent FERC orders that address electric transmission repair and replacement capital expenditures. Panel members will also discuss whether existing oversight of transmission investment is sufficiently transparent to ensure cost-effective solutions, grid safety and reliability, the promotion of competition, and the deployment of grid modernization technologies.

Dr. Weiss will speak on the panel “Electrification: The Wave of the Future or a Policy Choice?” The panel will discuss the impacts and possible risks for customers, companies, and policymakers to take into account as electrification increases across the U.S., as well as whether regulators and legislators should attempt to guide the transition to electrification in the market, and if so, how they should do so.
