Brattle Principal Marc Chupka and Senior Consultant Pablo Ruiz will present at National Hydropower Association’s (NHA) Waterpower Week, taking place April 30-May 2, 2018 in Washington, DC.

The event is comprised of three conferences including, NHA’s annual conference, the International Marine Renewable Conference (IMREC), and the Marine Energy Technology Symposium (METS). The event provides industry professionals and power producers and suppliers the opportunity to network, learn about legislative and regulatory initiatives, and discuss the issues impacting hydropower and the marine energy industry.

Mr. Chupka will present during the session, “Recognizing Hydropower’s Environmental Benefits.” The session will highlight efforts underway across the various regions to develop new markets and products. Mr. Chupka and his co-panelists will also analyze how hydropower is being considered (or not) by policymakers and how hydro asset owners are participating in these efforts.

Dr. Ruiz will present during the session, “Getting it Done: Global Pumped Storage Successes and What It Means for the U.S.” He and his co-panelists will discuss what policies, market conditions, and other factors are driving the resurgence of new pumped-storage projects, and how this compares to the U.S. development environment. Additionally, they will discuss lessons learned and policy changes that could be applied in the U.S. to move pumped-storage potential to project reality.
