Spain, one of the leading global markets for renewable energy, is gaining further momentum due to recent legislative and regulatory reforms, including ambitious energy targets for 2030.

In a chapter included in the recent 5th edition of The Renewable Energy Law Review, Brattle Principals José Antonio García, Pedro Marín, and Jack Stirzaker provide an in-depth overview of the renewable energy landscape in Spain, including the country’s policy and regulatory framework. The authors detail renewable energy project development in the Spanish market, how recent auctions and growing investments in distributed renewable energy – especially wind and solar – will lead to new renewable installed capacity in the coming years, and other measures and mechanisms envisaged by the Integrated National Energy and Climate Plan (INCEP) 2021–2030.
