Global Arbitration Review (GAR) has once again recognized The Brattle Group as a leading firm of international arbitration experts in its annual “GAR 100: Expert Witness Power Index.”

The Brattle Group was named in the top five firms this year; a rise in rankings attributed to an increase in the number of hearings over the last two years, an increase in the average value of hearing claims, and our extensive work on claims related to renewables and oil and gas.

“We’re delighted that GAR continues to recognize our firm’s work on some of the world’s largest commercial and investment arbitrations,” said Richard Caldwell, Brattle Principal and International Arbitration Practice Leader. “Our global team has worked across numerous industries and forums over the past several years, and we are committed to providing informed, rigorous, and compelling work products to all our clients.”

The index is calculated based on third-party-validated information provided by reputable law firms and expert consultancies related to their international arbitration work. GAR uses hearings as the primary measure to determine how active a particular firm has been. The publication assesses the number of hearings accumulated by a firm and the average value of the claims being considered in those hearings. This year, GAR measured the number and size of a practice’s hearings from August 1, 2018 to August 1, 2020 to determine these rankings.
