Brattle Principal Sam Newell will present at the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners’ (NARUC) Winter Policy Summit, taking place February 11-14, 2018 in Washington, DC.

The event gathers an array of speakers from federal agencies, industry, media, and advocacy organizations to discuss the latest policy updates related to utility regulation.

Dr. Newell will present during the panel discussion “Natural Gas Reliability: Understanding Fact from Fiction.” Natural gas has been a long-term power generation fuel source; however, it has recently drawn its share of opponents. The Department of Energy’s Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (DOE NOPR) has brought renewed attention to natural gas reliability and resiliency as a generation source, and naysayers proclaim that gas doesn’t actually contribute to grid resilience in the same way as other fuels. Dr. Newell and his co-panelists will discuss these issues and tease out fact from fiction.
