Brattle Academic Advisor Joshua Gans has been named the 2019 recipient of the Distinguished Service Award, which is presented by The Public Utility Research Center (PURC) at the University of Florida.

The award honors an individual who has contributed to the understanding of regulatory economics and finance, and recognizes the cumulative impact of an individual’s research and policy analyses on both the academic community and regulatory policymakers.

Previous award winners are thought leaders in regulatory economics and finance. They include Nobel Prize-winning economist Professor Jean Tirole, as well as leading economists at the U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC), Berkeley’s Haas School of Business, and the MIT Department of Economics.

Dr. Gans is a Professor of Strategic Management and the Jeffrey S. Skoll Chair of Technical Innovation and Entrepreneurship at the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto.
